Breaker Press Games 2018

The full art from The Day-to-Day cover. We're one week into 2018 and it's time to reflect on the last year and to look forward into the future. Last year, in January, we launched a Kickstarter to release the Broken Contract Rulebook along with a bunch of play aids ( Equipment Cards, Ability Cards, Character Dashboards, etc.) The Kickstarter was successful and we walked into AdeptiCon 2017 with the new rulebook and limited edition boxed games. A few months later we released the new Adam Walker model, and all of the Kickstarter rewards began shipping. Hal and I dove straight into writing and playtesting. We hammered on content week after week through the summer, and then autumn hit and things slowed down. He was focusing on his degree and I was teaching myself Adobe InDesign while simultaneously laying out the first Broken Contract Episode Book . The year wrapped up with us just commissioning a couple of new pieces of art from Filip Dudek and a couple of sculpts from ...

Thank You Attendees of AdeptiCon2016!

Mike and Aaron running demos at AdeptiCon2016! Being a former Chicago resident and only living an hour and a half away by car in my new home of Milwaukee, AdeptiCon, as the largest miniature wargaming event in the country, is a "must attend" event. The organizers and volunteer staff are hugely accommodating and are amazingly supportive of small companies. This year, as a special treat, two friends who I hadn't seen in a decade agreed to make the trek from Buffalo, NY and San Diego, CA respectively, to help me out and run demos. I'd like to share our history briefly. Back in the late 90's I worked for GW and Mike and Aaron were my co-workers. Less than a year after starting work at GW#108 in Buffalo, NY, I was promoted to manager and these two gentlemen were two of my most prized employees because of their passion for gaming and their understanding of the mission: to build the wargaming hobby. We all left GW#108 in 2001 and over the next few years we all went...

Preparing for AdeptiCon

Look for this banner at AdeptiCon! I missed my Wednesday blog post because I was sick all week. I may not have been able to muster the strength to work on scenery, but a lot of stuff has been happening behind the scenes. One of the biggest things to transpire recently is the addition of freelance artist, Filip Dudek , onto the project. If you are familiar with the post-apocalyptic RPG, Across the Dead Earth , you'll already know his work. We've been looking for someone to do atmospheric pieces for the rule book and I saw that he might be looking for work so I got in touch. He dove straight in and started producing fantastic work that really captures the feel of the setting and we couldn't be happier to have him on board. The above piece of art is the proof Sam Alcarez sent over adding his latest logo design. This will be our 3'x5' banner marking our territory at AdeptiCon . Here's a better view of the art itself: Filip's work is stunning and h...

New Miniature Prototypes, Conventions, and 2015

We've entered 2015 and I look to the new year with a great sense of excitement. Its a new year, and my partner and I have moved from Chicago to Milwaukee to start a new life. We wanted to save money and slow down our pace to concentrate more heavily on our personal projects, and Broken Contract is one of those projects. Even during the hectic and labored move, I kept my eye on the prize, and that's getting our introductory miniature line and game ready for the public. The 3 newest prototypes from VisionProto. Talla Kellerman, Officer Hickley, and Trest the Gen-Mod Brute. A few days ago a package arrived from VisionProto of three new 3D print prototypes. When I received the first two 3D prints back in October, I was struck by how I felt that the typical approach in wargaming of scaling all humans to the same approximate size felt odd. I envisioned each character we had created to be an individual and some should be diminutive, and some should tower over the others. To ...
