Broken Contract - Officer Hickley Sculpt by Tim Barry

Officer Hickley sculpt by Tim Barry.

Over the last month Tim Barry been working on and off with the first Broken Contract sculpt - Officer Hickley, the Prod Goon. If you missed the Character description written by Chuck Hickey himself, you can check it out here: XVI. Assembling the Cast - Officer Hickley. Tim Barry has most recently known for sculpting the models for Aetherium by Anvil-Eight Games. I'm really excited with the result and looking forward to more sculpts in the coming months as the project evolves.

November 5: New Breaker Miniature Range Kickstarter!

In less than a week we will be running our next Kickstarter. This one is to fund the manufacture and expansion of our Breaker range of miniatures. If you've been following Breaker Press for a while, you've probably seen images of some of these sculpts appear over the last year and a half (yes, the gears grind slowly at Breaker Press). It is finally time to send them to the caster, but we need your help. We are starting things off with the two Gen-Mods that we've been sitting on for quite some time. These will be the basis for the Kickstarter campaign. The campaign is going to start small - we just need to raise enough money to cast and ship these two models.
If the campaign goes well, the Stretch Goals will be determined by you, the community. The first Survey went up and the first Stretch Goal will be for the female Breaker Crew Leader.
Hopefully, we can work our way through all of the concept art depicted on the ad at the top of this post, and then move onto some addit…

I'm an Outsider: Outlier Characters in DCC

I’m an Outsider, Outside of Everything Outlier Player Characters in DCC by Nick Baran
Art by Nerdgore The concept of a Player Character with outdoor skills has firm footing in fantasy literature, but not every solitary woodsperson is a benevolent ranger. There is also the survivalist hunter, and the thieving brigand roaming the hills and forests. The Outlier emphasizes the varied motivations and skills of those that live off the land, whether they seek to protect it, or take what they need from it, outside of the governance of “civil” society.

(Editor’s note: The traditional Ranger of AD&D does not fit with the “You’re no hero” philosophy espoused by DCC, but many folks love the wilderness skills associated with the class. In the 80’s, I was in love with the Bandit character class that was featured in Dragon Magazine #63 and Best of Dragon Vol. 4. It was a cool mash up of Thief and Ranger themed skills that I really connected with and had a lot of fun playing. With no official Range…

Post #100: Rules, Background, and Cards! (Updated!)

For AdeptiCon 2016 I produced a very short run of Broken Contract Rule and Background books. I don't want anyone who didn't attend feeling left out on the contents so I've collected the files and uploaded them to Dropbox, along with a PDF file handy for printing out your own Character Dashboards and chits so you can get up and playing with the models and cards in your possession. I did deliberately omit the covers of both books for home printing. If you would like to see the covers added, let me know and I will do so.

What is in the Broken Contract Background Book?

The Broken Contract Background Book is an overview of the FerrumSky setting. In a way, much of it is a collection of essays that were prompted by questions that my editor, Rob Ferrick, has posed to m…
