XVII. Assembling the Cast - Officer Lamal Tulson

Officer Lamal Tulson art by Geng Gendall

Officer Lamal Tulson executes his duties with complete detachment. The best advice he ever got was, "Don't think of them as being the same as us; they are just parts in a machine and your job is to keep that machine running at all costs." Behind hat, glasses, and firearm, there is a mind trained to apathy. His appearance acts as both weapon of intimidation and defense against the smoldering spark of honor and justice that Lamal once believed in. Regardless of how he may have felt before becoming a Prod, he now lives as an engineer of fear. To the Tracted his lack of passion makes the cold brutality of his actions all the more terrible.

During Character Creation one of the characters in our 0-level funnel came up as a herder with a herding dog. The dog, Fetch, has outlived their herder master, and became a beloved Character in a very lethal game. Not surprisingly, the players pushed for Fetch to have the ability to advance. Here is the first draft of the rules if you are interested in my take on Canine Player Characters in DCC. I Wanna Be Your Dog Canines in Dungeon Crawl Classics by Nick Baran Art by Nerdgore You’re running a 0-Level Funnel for a group of players who are all dog people. One of the Characters comes up as a Herder with a Herding Dog, and before you know it, the dog is the most cherished member of the party. Treasure be damned, as long as the dog survives!
